Prior Deram Park
Ground Control was appointed to carry out the design and construction to redevelop the Prior Deram Park at Canley, Coventry. Before our works were carried out, the area was nothing more than a large grassed space for dog walkers and people to play football. The area suffered from anti-social behaviour and had no real purpose within the community, who saw the area as a wasteland rather than public open space.

After carrying out planning permission consultation, works began on site in October 2014. Works began with the installation of the drainage systems and excavation of paths. These works took our teams into winter. It was agreed with the client to close site due to wet conditions that were creating an unsafe working zone for our teams, and causing damage to the parkland.
Works recommenced in May 2015 to install the play area, and themed garden which linked to the area’s history and twinning with an Australian town. Soft landscaping of the Australian Garden included planting native and ornamental shrubs that can establish in Australian climates, as well as our own, with commissioning of street artists to install artwork throughout the area. Works required coordination with local residents and businesses with regards to traffic management into site.
A community bulb planting project was carried out for local school children in the Autumn of 2015. This was arranged by our team to promote the new park to the borough and was featured on local news as part of the campaign.
