Challenges / Overview:

All operations were carried out between 07.00 and 18.30 Monday to Friday, within college open hours. If required, we sought specific arrangements to undertake appropriate works on Saturdays or to extend these working hours to 19.30 on each occasion or set of occasions. Visits were scheduled and carried out in consideration of the students and general public. The campus is regularly used by the local community for walking, jogging and dog walking. Access priority is always to be given to a member of the public or student and their safety is paramount.

Work was programmed in coordination with the Campus Event Organisers to consider special events within the campus such as art installations, exam periods and open day events. In preparation of events, maintenance visits were often scheduled ahead of them, or where discretion and minimal disturbance was required, such as exams, maintenance was rescheduled to a later time as not to cause disturbance.

Within construction, in order to reduce waste leaving site, materials were reused such as topsoil to create new embankments. Within our maintenance period, it has been identified that there is an extensive weed seed bank within site won topsoil. A control strategy has been developed by our management team to reduce weeds within this area.
