Helix Park

Helix Park

The Helix Park Project is a 300 hectare regeneration project, which will transform underused land between Falkirk and Grangemouth. Ground Control was appointed to carry out path upgrades to existing cycleways and footpaths as part of the project. The network runs through the community woodland linking the path from the Helix Canal Hub next to the Kelpies.

Approximately 3km of pathway was worked on through the woodland, near to watercourses, park environment and close to residential areas. All paths were relevelled, and widened to become DDA compliant.

One of the largest areas of our work scope is to install a new footbridge bridge. The open space is to remain open to users and businesses based near to where our works are to take place. Effective traffic management is required throughout the project to ensure minimal disruption to businesses. Coordination is also required throughout the project with service providers within the area, as some of our works are to be carried out under power pylons and Ineos underground infrastructure.

Challenges Overcome

The open space remained open to users and businesses based near to where our works are to take place. The pathway ran adjacent to multiple tidal waterways which were a key consideration for health and safety, construction techniques/timing and environmental considerations.

Effective traffic management was required throughout the project to ensure minimal disruption to businesses.

Coordination was also required throughout the project with service providers within the area, as some of our works were to be carried out under power pylons and Ineos underground infrastructure. This was done so via the implementation of a project specific Communication Plan.
