Bed Bugs Infestation
Ground Control’s tailored solution solves client’s Bed Bugs Infestation
Our client is a well-known independent provider of health and social care across all of the UK. They provide residential, educational and supported living to the patients who live in their facilities.
Ground Control have formed a well-established working relationship over the years providing a number of high profile services including the majority of their Ground’s Maintenance portfolio, tree management & fencing needs to name just a few.
During a review meeting, our client expressed that they were having large-scale problems with bed bug infestations and began enquiries into whether our Pest Control service could potentially solve their issue, as other couldn’t.
Initially there was little belief from the client that we could solve the problem. Their residents had become badly affected and the infestation had spread with such aggression that it was now visible in communal and living areas. The incumbent provider had attempted to remedy the problem via several methods but failed to permanently resolve the issue, all of which came at a very high cost.
Finally, in desperation, the client contacted Ground Control in the hopes we could finally solve their issue.
We initially consulted with the affected residents to identify the root cause of the infestation. Families were also consulted on their prior movements as previous travel to locations notorious to bed bug issues may have augmented the infestation. Following this feedback we were able to make assurances to the client that they would see significant improvements within 7-10 working days – others had indicated 3-6 months.
We then began discussions with the care home manager and staff to ensure that a smooth and ‘right first time’ transition and mobilisation plan was in place. This included a face-to-face meeting with all residents and a separate targeted meeting with management and staff to outline process/support and share ‘best practice’.
A heat treatment solution was utilised to attack the infestation with focus being made to the rooms more affected than others.
After the treatments were completed, improvements were seen within just 5-7 days. Over the past 7 months, Ground Control has received no complaints with regard to any recurrence of this issue and we continue to do scheduled retention works with the client.
Furthermore, the bespoke solution we offered generated a 65% reduction in price compared to the previous incumbent, with the client initially believing it was too low a price to solve the infestation.
The client Estates Manager working with Ground Control commented:
‘I would just like to thank your guys for their hard work and professional manner towards our service users and members of staff during this difficult period. The treatment was completely successful and, as stated in your quotation and specification, it did exactly what it said on the tin.’
