Ground Control has been working with Network Rail and their environmental team, relocating badger setts to prevent disruption to railways, whilst protecting the badgers and their habitats.

This work has been carried out in Cheshire, where local land was at risk of flooding due to the badgers digging into drainage ditches by the railway, causing blockages.

Measures were taken to enable badgers to be relocated in a safe environment on adjacent land. Here, the badgers can build their habitats without causing disruption to the railway, or having their lives and habitats disrupted by flooding and subsequent works.

The results are a safe, reliable railway and protected habitat for badgers.

This is all part of our commitment with Network Rail to protect the environment whilst keeping the railways running safely and efficiently.

Ground Control is working on similar projects on construction sites, highways and utility sites.
