The team strive to provide tailored advice based on a thorough understanding of project constraints as well as extensive knowledge of legislation, best practice, case law and current guidelines. This information is used as a basis to help you navigate ecology issues in the most efficient way possible.

With headquarters based in Billericay, our lead ecologist in the Midlands, multiple regional offices, and numerous field-based teams, we can provide a nationwide service covering all UK areas, including Scotland and Wales.

Our ecologists are members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management and adhere to CIEEM’s strict guidelines both in their technical and fieldwork. Our team hold survey licenses from Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Natural Heritage, qualifying them to deliver complex protected species work on a range of projects nationally.
The team is also experienced in biodiversity net gain and work with numerous clients to evaluate and measure net gain opportunities, as well as implementation and delivery of enhancements measures. This can include installing nest boxes and bug hotels, or large scale work such as creating new homes for badgers (setts) or woodland planting.

Being placed as part of the wider multidisciplinary Ground Control Group allows the Ecology Team to provide a collaborative, technology-focused and flexible working approach from the smallest to the largest of projects. So whether you need some advice for minor works, require planning permission for housing development, or require a team to help deliver a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, Ground Control’s ecologists will be happy to help.
