Connected Kerb and Ground Control's trailblazing parternship

Connected Kerb and Ground Control have begun an initial multi-year partnership to install a series of on-street EV (electric vehicle) chargers and charging environments across Surrey, with unique solutions for business, public charging and residential. Expanding upon an existing partnership, which is currently successfully installing off-street chargers for commercial partners. The joint venture sees a combined ambition of installing up to 100 charging ports per month.
- The partnership will see Ground Control install hundreds of Connected Kerb charging stations across Surrey.
Schemes are created by Ground Control’s in-house design team, with considerations such as site layout, aesthetics, and elevation all considered as experts produce service drawings, electrical designs and charger pillar details. Bespoke charging solutions are further tailored to the needs of the region, availability of power, and include a combination of Connected Kerb’s AC and DC hardware, with a variety of kW options.
The project is currently part of a multi-year framework based in Surrey, with the potential to scale to further regions and support nationwide EV charging. Ground Control and Connected Kerb are also supporting local communities through their volunteer day initiatives. In July, members of both companies provided support at Nork Park, Banstead, with the removal of invasive weeds in their area, and in turn, enabling native biodiversity to flourish.
Since their inception in 2017, Connected Kerb has installed thousands of publicly available charging sockets throughout the UK, powering the equivalent of 66 million miles through their network. With a simple mission; “ to make charging inclusive, convenient and reliable” the partnership will enable them to continue in their efforts to deliver on-street community EV charging, working with local authorities to support up to 60% of UK residents unable to charge their vehicle directly from their home supply.
The project is delivered by GC Energy Solutions (GCES) and is an example of the full end-to-end capacity for GCES in the EV charging installation market, with the capacity to consult, design, install, and maintain all levels of solutions.
Ground Control’s energy and decarbonisation experts continue the growing influence of GCES in the provision of EV charging infrastructure, building on the nationwide fleet transition with OpenReach.
Tom Goodman, Energy Director (GC Energy Solutions), shared:
We’re delighted that Ground Control and GC Energy Solutions are working closely with Connected Kerb to deliver this exciting framework to make EVs more accessible to communities across Surrey. Projects like this are essential for creating a viable EV charging infrastructure, and we hope that this successful partnership continues.
Chris Matthews, Chief Delivery Officer at Connected Kerb said:
Connected Kerb and Ground Control have a strong partnership, which started with GC Energy Solutions winning the commercial EV Charge Points installations thanks to their expertise at deploying c4 sockets for a large portfolio of blue chip clients. Now GC Energy Solutions also supports one of Connected Kerb’s flagship contract to deploy over 2,000 sockets across Surrey as part of Connected Kerbs's contract with Surrey County Council, one of the most ambitious public EV charging roll out in the country. Together, we are looking to collaborate further by developing a funded EV charge points solution out to GC Energy Solution's 55,000 sites across UK & I.
