Ground Control raises over £3,000 in company-wide campaign for the Freedom Games

In June, Ground Control rallied employees from every level of the organisation to take a stand against modern slavery. As proud participants in the inaugural 2025 Freedom Games, we raised £3,304 in support of STOP THE TRAFFIK and Justice & Care, two globally respected charities working to dismantle trafficking networks, support survivors, and drive lasting policy change.
The Freedom Games bring together like-minded, forward-thinking businesses to confront the realities of modern slavery and human trafficking, issues affecting over 50 million people around the world. Ground Control’s involvement reflects our ongoing commitment to meaningful corporate responsibility and making a positive social impact.
The Freedom Games at Ground Control
Our teams embraced the cause with energy and creativity through a range of fundraising activities, including:
- A company-wide step-a-thon, encouraging everyone to “take steps to tackle modern slavery”
- A silent auction, with exclusive prizes donated and bid on by Ground Control employees
- A hands-on car wash run by our Executive Committee, open to all colleagues on site
These initiatives came together to raise an impressive £3,304, a testament to the dedication and generosity of our people.
Our Vision
Ground Control’s commitment to eradicating modern slavery is long-standing. Through our Modern Slavery Working Group, we continue to lead the way in embedding ethical practices and transparency across our operations. This ongoing work was recognised in late 2024, when Ground Control was shortlisted for the Business Impact Award at the Unseen Business Awards.
Reflecting on the campaign’s success, Brian Smith, Group Sales & Marketing Director, said:
I’m incredibly proud of the engagement and passion shown across every division during this campaign. It’s a powerful reflection of our values and our continued leadership in tackling modern slavery, not just within our industry, but across society.
We must do everything we can to break the cycle of exploitation and ensure as many people as possible enjoy the freedom that should be a basic human right. Every life matters.Fundraising teams, which include representatives from KPMG and Starling Bank, have collectively raised over £10,000 at this year's Freedom Games.
A Message of thanks from James Clarry, CEO, Justice & Care:
