In October, Ground Control announced Help for Heroes as charity of the year, with an ambitious £55,000 fundraising target, and a commitment to volunteer to support former servicemen and women living with the challenges of injuries and trauma.

Driven by EverCare, to date, over £10,000 has been raised towards this fundraising goal, with a series of volunteer and awareness days running in conjunction with this fundraising.

Jason Knights, CEO, commented on the fundraising success:

I am incredibly proud to see our business come together and support our charity of the year. Raising over £10,000 in just the first few months is a testament to the caring nature of our people and how deeply supporting others is ingrained in our culture. With many more events planned for 2026, we’ll continue to build on that spirit as we work towards our ambitious £55,000 target to support veterans and the vital work of Help for Heroes, demonstrating what makes Ground Control so special: human nature at its best.

Fundraising by EverCare

Including matched funds by EverCare, hardworking divisions have raised and donated over £10,000 to Help for Heroes with a series of events, including:

  • A sponsored Remembrance Day ‘Walk to Remember’ with colleagues taking part in events at Falkirk, London and Billericay, where they walked to show their support and honour the armed forces community.
  • The kind donations from team members at the Arb Rail and Maintenance divisional conferences, which also hosted talks from Help for Heroes.
  • The business has also donated to the charity for every ‘Amber Alert’ raised on site and has given a percentage of all this winter’s salt sales.

Help for Heroes Christmas Campaign

Teams across Ground Control have also been donating their time to support Help for Heroes, recently taking part in the charity's festive campaign, signing Christmas cards to remind veterans that they are never forgotten.
