Considerate Constructors’ audit highlights best practice in Ground Control’s approach to anti-modern slavery and inclusivity at Berry Park

A team working on the Berry Hill Park redevelopment in Mansfield has been commended in a 2025 Considerate Constructors Scheme audit, with specific recognition given to Ground Control’s commitment to preventing modern slavery and promoting inclusivity on site.
The audit coincided with the early phases of the major redevelopment project – a significant investment by Mansfield District Council designed to enhance recreational spaces, improve accessibility, and boost long-term sustainability across Berry Hill Park.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a not-for-profit, independent organisation established to raise standards within the construction industry. It works with sites that voluntarily register, encouraging them to demonstrate how their practices go beyond statutory requirements.
At Ground Control, we integrate ISO certifications across Quality, Environment, Safety, and Business Collaboration into our core operations. We are also proud members of professional bodies including BALI and the Association of Fencing Industries.
The audit recognised Ground Control for supporting a diverse, skilled, and engaged workforce through targeted training and inclusive site practices. Highlights included:
- A robust and fully supported training plan that enables staff to continuously develop their skills
- Mandatory anti-modern slavery training, completed by all personnel before site access
- Multilingual site signage to improve communication for all team members
- A site supervisor qualified as a mental health first aider
- Employee access to health and wellbeing benefits, including online GP services, gym memberships, cycle-to-work scheme, and the 'Wage Stream' pay advance system
- Flexible working options and availability of PPE in female sizes
In recognition of these efforts, the Berry Hill Park project team has also received an internal award as part of Ground Control’s workforce recognition programme.
Patrick Middlehurst, Operations Director at Ground Control, commented:
