Ground Control Hits £81,000 for Help for Heroes and commits to March 2027

Ground Control has reached a significant milestone in its partnership with Help for Heroes, having raised over £82,000 for our Charity of the Year. We are also excited to announce that our partnership with Help for Heroes will continue through March 2027.

What started as a goal to raise £55,000 has expanded into something much greater. Thanks to employee-led events, generous donations, and matched funding from EverCare, our team has consistently gone above and beyond to support veterans, service leavers, and their families across the UK.

The Maintenance Division Leads the Charge

Our Grounds Maintenance Division has been driving some of the most recent fundraising, with colleagues taking on personal challenges and team events to push the total higher.

• Colleagues are taking on a sponsored 10k walk this Friday, 4th September
• Ruxi Moore is taking on one of the most gruelling open-water challenges there is: a 30-hour, 3-day English Channel swim. 
• One of our colleagues took the leap, literally, completing a sponsored skydive to raise funds for the cause.
  A fundraising golf day brought colleagues and supporters together for a day of friendly competition.
• Football Match: Continuing a tradition that's become a highlight of our fundraising calendar, the Maintenance Division hosted a charity football match 

Building on a Year of Activity

This latest push builds on a year of remarkable fundraising across the whole business. Earlier highlights included the Race Across London challenge, a charity football match at Billericay Town FC, summits of Scafell Pike and Snowdon, our supplier community rallying behind the cause, and Austin Brown and Anthony Price cycling 200 miles over two days from Doncaster to Billericay.

Beyond fundraising, Ground Control colleagues have also volunteered alongside Help for Heroes throughout the year and shared professional training and expertise with the charity, reflecting a partnership built on genuine commitment.

Extending Our Commitment to March 2027

Reaching £81,000 is something to be proud of. But with so much momentum behind us, we're extending our Charity of the Year partnership with Help for Heroes through to March 2027. This means more fundraising, more volunteering, more awareness, and more meaningful support for the veterans and families who need it. 

Why It Matters

Help for Heroes believes that too many veterans are left to fight for the support they need, mentally, physically, and financially. The charity works to help them find the peace and support they deserve.
