When a fence has to work twice as hard
Energy infrastructure doesn't sit quietly in the landscape. For the operators of Swaffham Energy Centre in Norfolk, the tension between running an operational energy facility and being a good neighbour required a practical solution.
We were tasked with solving two issues at once: ensuring the strictest security standards for a major energy site while also minimising operational noise for nearby residents. With a site complicated by buried services, live substations, and heat pump infrastructure, our team managed the entire process: design, supply, installation, and all risk management documentation, safely and seamlessly.
Our solution featured a high-security V mesh perimeter with controlled access points, along with a bespoke acoustic barrier along the residential boundary. The acoustic system was chosen for its certified noise reduction and finished in materials that blend naturally with the local landscape.
Before installation, we navigated several high-risk elements with detailed service identification and site assessments. Our site-specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments covered excavation near buried services, working at height, and plant movement. Clear exclusion zones were maintained throughout, and the project finished on schedule with zero safety incidents.
The client called our workmanship "truly exceptional and second to none," and noted how rare it is to find a crew with such self-discipline and commitment to safe working.
