Creating Spaces Where Children Thrive

Last week, twenty volunteers came together at Zoe's Place in Middlesbrough for a day of work that would transform the grounds for the children who use the facility. Seven of our Infrastructure Highways team, supported by our Field Team at Arborix, joined colleagues from National Highways and the SDF2 Yorkshire North East Community to give their time to something that matters.

Zoe's Place is a specialist children's hospice. The families and children who come through its doors need spaces that feel welcoming, safe, and alive. And on the day, that's what our volunteers set out to create.

The work was practical and purposeful. Across the day, the team tidied and repaired the grounds, bringing new life to a neglected rose garden maze. They removed a dangerous tree and cleared the woodland walk, opening up a natural space that the children can now use, explore, and enjoy.
