Shortlisted in the ‘Regeneration and Retrofit: Urban Small Scale’ category

Ground Control is excited to share that our Oakham Suite SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Solution) has been shortlisted in the ‘Regeneration and Retrofit: Urban Small Scale’ category at the Susdrain SuDS Awards 2026.

Oakham Suite SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Solution)

The full design-and-build project includes multiple SuDS interventions to increase flood resilience in Mansfield. Within this project and catchment solution is Oakham Suite, which contains two bioswales installed along the building’s frontage, engineered to capture 150m³ of surface water.

Bioswale: A shallow, vegetated channel designed to manage stormwater runoff by slowing, filtering, and infiltrating water into the ground. It consists of engineered soil media, vegetation, and a gravel mulch layer to enhance infiltration and pollutant removal.

Works at Oakham Suite demonstrate a wide range of services with LDE, including Landscape Architecture, Landscape Construction, Drainage Solutions and SuDS and Biodiversity Enhancements.

The awards, since 2018, have recognised the best sustainable drainage work in the UK, focusing on projects and works that show real benefits to flood resilience, biodiversity, and people.

Shortlisted in the "Regeneration and Retrofit: Urban Small Scale", we look forward to joining the best in the business at the awards ceremony in June.
