Ground Control have had the biggest ever first night of a gritting season with 2386 sites across the UK being gritted by over 100 of our winter maintenance teams. The 2020-21 season officially started on 21st October, but temperatures did not drop low enough to trigger the service until last night on 3rd November. Now that the weather has dropped it looks like the team have a busy season ahead with gritting expected for much of this week.

Unusually for early November, the low temperatures were more prevalent across the south of the UK. In most years Ground Control's gritting season starts slowly in Scotland, but in 2020 the first night included customer sites across much of the south of England and Wales.

With La Nina well established and expected to persist throughout this winter season, our winter team are well prepared for the unusual weather activity it could send our way. If you want to sign up to our winter maintenance service and make sure your site users are kept safe this winter, call us on 01277 598899 or email gritting@ground-control.co.uk.
