Working Together To Improve Our Communities
Local school children were invited to participate in a community litter pick at their school and the surrounding streets before making their way to the estate to take part in a planting scheme alongside Ground Control’s Operations Director, Alan Wilkins.
Ground Control was delighted to support the event, donating bulbs, bedding plants and compost to bring the gardens to life. Alan was on-hand to educate the children about the importance of gardening, before demonstrating correct practice for planting bulbs and offering support throughout.
The children then had the chance to present their finished pots to the elderly residents who live at the estate; offering much brighter gardens when the flowers come into bloom this summer.
The project also contributes to the Welsh Government’s initiative of improving biodiversity in Wales; their ‘Action Plan for Pollinators in Wales’ aims to provide more and better habitats for bees and butterflies as well as maintaining healthy populations for these pollinators.
This project is the latest in a sting of events that Ground Control has supported, including planting days at both Rhyl’s West Parade and Elm Court.
