Three of London’s most iconic attractions have been recognised in the 2014 London in Bloom Awards.

The National Maritime Museum and Her Majesty’s Fortress and Palace, the Tower of London and Mitcham Road Cemetery are maintained by Ground Control and all three sites received awards for their immaculate presentation.

The National Maritime Museum was presented with a Gold Award as well as the “Best in Category” Award. The Tower of London was issued with a Silver Gilt Award, only narrowly missing out on Gold by two points. Lastly, Mitcham Road Cemetery followed up on its recent success in the Green Flag campaign with a Gold Award from London in Bloom. The Gold standard level represents an “Outstanding” achievement.

Our Contracts Director, Jay Hancocks, previously held the position of Head Gardener at the Tower of London and has expressed his delight at achieving this special recognition;

“It is wonderful to see immaculate maintenance and high standards are an everyday event at both sites. To have this level of maintenance recognised and validated by an organisation such as London in Bloom is very rewarding.”

Nathan Rainey, Regional Contracts Manager at Ground Control, paid tribute to the hard work and dedication put in by our operatives at Mitcham Road Cemetery;

“It is a testimony to the commitment, passion and drive of Ground Control’s staff that we have achieved Gold in this prestigious competition. I have witnessed the passion of our team to succeed and this would not have been possible without everyone pulling together.”

London in Bloom is a campaign and competition where boroughs, communities, residents, and businesses work together to improve the environment of London to make a greener, cleaner place to live, work and visit. We are delighted to have two of our most historic and celebrated sites presented with top level awards by this prestigious campaign and congratulate all those involved.
