Local Schools Invited to Woodhouse Urban Park, South Kilburn, for Ceremonial Planting
Ground Control, the UK’s largest commercial landscaping company, and Brent Council invite local school children to join them on-site for ceremonial planting.
Works are well underway at Woodhouse Urban Park, South Kilburn; Ground Control’s latest landscape construction project on behalf of the London Borough of Brent.
As part of the huge South Kilburn regeneration programme, Ground Control are carrying out a range of hard and soft landscaping that will see approximately 2,400 new high quality homes built, along with a new local primary school, shops, new health facilities, a site wide energy solution, an improved public realm and environmental standards.
On Thursday 25th February, Ground Control and Brent Council invited children from local schools to take part in a ceremonial planting event, which included the children writing messages to be buried in a time capsule at the base of a new tree.
This is the latest in a string of community engagement events at the park, following a number workshops and sessions held to gain input from the local community on the design and specification of the new park.
Some of the elements being installed by Ground Control include, bespoke concrete seating, fencing, kerbing, a concrete platform, imprinted concrete paths with exposed aggregate finish and imprinted patterns, a bespoke giant oak play structure with slide, platforms, bespoke balance beams, a nest swing, table tennis table, trampoline, earth contouring and mounding, herbaceous and shrub planting with irrigation system and mature trees.
Ground Control’s Construction Manager, Adrian Denbow, commented, “It’s great to get the children on-board with this very exciting project. It is so important for them to see how the project is developing as we bring this great area to life, with the significant changes that are already in motion! It really is a milestone, and I am delighted that we can share this with the children.”
