Growing in the City with Ground Control
Ground Control has been working with the Growing in the City community project in Manchester
Our Construction Manager, Shaun Carney, has been working in tandem with volunteers at the Growing in the City scheme in Manchester. The project aims to encourage more people in the city to grow their own food for a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle.
Shaun has been assisting in the planning and installation of the allotment and has been able to offer helpful advice and expertise to those involved. From their initial meeting prior to the project taking place, Growing in the City had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve but required guidance on how to get there.
Following this, Shaun and other project members were able to devise a plan and on Saturday 15th February he visited the site to help design path points and setting levels . This enabled the planning team to adjust and perfect the project plan prior to excavation works and installation of raised planters.
We received a glowing testimonial from the organisation following our assistance with the project;
“Mr Carney is a superstar with loads of useful advice. Absolutely brilliant support from your team, the practical no-nonsense help with the community is not going unnoticed, thank you.”
At Ground Control we are continuous in our mission to help local communities across the UK and this Manchester based project is no different. The allotment is situated in a deprived area just outside the city centre and provides a welcome opportunity for community interaction in an otherwise neglected area of land.
