Ground Control’s HSQE team promote the importance of Drug & Alcohol testing
Usually ones to issue random Drug & Alcohol testing to teams on site, Ground Control’s HSQE team were subject to testing at their recent team meeting. Senior HR Manager, Rachel Beal and People Relations Specialist, Molly Sylvester administered testing to 11 members of the HSQE team.
Rachel commented; “Due to Ground Control’s drug and alcohol policy, we have four types of testing which members of the HSQE team perform on teams regularly to ensure compliance on site. To switch things up, and highlight that everyone is subject to random testing, we decided to test the ‘testers’, who were more than happy to see what it is like from the other side of the table. They had a great attitude and were very supportive to promote the key message, ‘STOP! Think! Safety First.’”
Witnessed inspections are carried out by our HSQE Managers across the divisions as part of our continued support training schedule with all Managers, as a way to keep all up to speed with current legislation and with what is required as part of our Health and Safety inspections relating to specific works. As part of this, we issue random D&A testing to ensure everyone is safe to work and to protect members of the public from accidents which may be caused due to misuse of drugs and alcohol.
As part of the HSQE teams’ testing, HSQE Manager for Roofing, Jude Smith underwent training by Mark Curry to enable him to administer tests out in the field.
