Ground Control to the rescue as Storm Ali attacks Coop store
Ground Control this week came to customer’s aid when Storm Ali struck, tearing down a huge ash tree, crushing a car and causing structural damage to Coop store, The Brae-Cambusbarron, Stirling.
The emergency call came in at 3pm, with Contracts Manager Simon Breustedt quick to action, deploying top tree team led by Alan Robertson to site in less than 30 mins. The team mobilised with fast response, clearing the tree from the car and building before utilising large machinery to relocate the damaged car.
Alan and his team worked in continuing stormy conditions well into the night, clearing all debris and eventually made the area safe at around 10pm.
Working alongside the arb team was Roofing Supervisor, Scott Stirling and operatives Steve and William from Ground Control’s sister company Survey Roofing. The roofing team were called out to address the damaged roof that had incurred amidst the fall of the tree. Scott has been awarded this month for his strong Health and Safety focus to make the area safe, following a Near Miss report he filed about the site.
Simon Breustedt, Ground Control’s Contract Manager commented;
“A fantastic response from a loyal arb team; they came to both mine, and our customers aid when they could have been doing any number of storm clearance jobs that day, for that I’m really thankful. They recognised this particular customer’s need, quickly prioritising the works to rectify the dangerous situation. Well done and thanks to all teams for executing this so quickly and efficiently.”
Simon Flynn, Coop’s Regional Facilities Manager commented;
“Alan’s team showed great professionalism working to get the store open and trading. It was a good team effort from both Survey and Ground Control to deliver the reactive calls with consideration for H&S at all times, the team worked tirelessly to leave the site clean and tidy and the effort shown by all was pleasing to see. Whatever they were asked to do, they did with no problems. They were a pleasure to work with.”
