Ground Control smashes winter maintenance record with highest number of gritting visits yet
Multi award-winning specialist external maintenance and commercial landscaping company Ground Control has carried out a record-breaking number of gritting visits this winter season. The company made 325,000 visits during the winter months to make roads and estates safe this winter, smashing their previous record of 221,000. The exciting news follows some of the harshest conditions the UK has seen in years, with storms, heavy snow and freezing temperatures continuing well into April.
Richard Johnson, Director of Winter Maintenance at Ground Control, said: “Reliable, effective gritting services are absolutely vital in adverse weather conditions – and with storms like the ‘Beast from the East’ hitting the UK, we made it our priority to ensure our winter maintenance services keep our clients and their customers safe. We’re very proud to have increased our winter maintenance capabilities enormously, partly made possible by the acquisition of Litter Boss that took place during 2017. Of course, it is thanks to our wonderful team and their hard work that we can claim such an achievement.”
Premier winter and exterior maintenance specialist Litter Boss became part of the Ground Control family in 2017, and with its combined infrastructure, people and innovative systems, this partnership has meant that Ground Control are undoubtedly the leading winter maintenance service provider in the UK. The acquisition means the business provides unrivalled geographical reach with a high density of sites across the UK increasing the concentration of their teams, enabling greater economies of scale and operational efficiencies.
Ground Control’s winter maintenance service includes gritting & snow clearance across private and public sectors. Offering a planned preventative or a reactive service tailored to client’s specific needs, Ground Control also provide 24/7 emergency cover, as well as live reporting so customers are able to track the progress of the service they receive in real-time. It was this platform that saw Ground Control receive the highly-coveted ‘Queen’s Award for Innovation’, which recognised the significant contribution this application of technology has on servicing its customers.
