Ground Control launches a suite of solutions at the CIH Housing Conference and Exhibition
Invasive Species Management portfolio heads up Ground Control offering to housing and property professionals
CIH Housing Conference and Exhibition announcement: Stand G47
The UK’s fastest growing external maintenance and commercial landscaping company, the award winning Ground Control, is launching a package of solutions headed up by its invasive species management portfolio at the CIH Housing Conference and Exhibition (28th-30th June). These solutions have been designed to tackle the structural damage increasingly caused by invasive species to the tune of £2.1 billion per year according to figures from the Environment Agency and the Department of the Regions.
Invasive species are a rising problem for many sectors, including the housing and property markets. The issue has arisen due to the increasing requirement for houses in areas where invasive weeds are growing. In fact, The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors now survey for Japanese Knotweed in or near the property as part of its mortgage survey. If it is present, not only will the property be devalued to the tune of 40%, it will also affect neighbouring properties’ values and often results in subsequent litigation.
At the CIH Conference and Exhibition, Ground Control will be asking visitors key questions including:
- Did you know that there are three species of Knotweed currently growing in the UK, up from just one a few years ago?
- Did you know that the problem has got so bad that building and landowners will now be served with a species control order to manage any invasive species on the property?
- Did you also know that failure to control the invasive species after an order has been served will result in fines of up to £20,000 for companies, and that is not including the removal of the species? In addition, Community Protection Orders can be served on house holders to remove invasive species
- Finally, did you know that some invasive species have a detrimental effect on human health including blistering of the skin and breathing problems?
“At this year’s event, we will be digging into why it is more important than ever to have a policy around invasive species, and what the penalties are if they are not controlled,” explains Andrew Hollyer, Sales and Marketing Director for Ground Control. “With our training manager and invasive weed management expert Neil Huck on-hand to explain why invasive weeds have become such a big issue for many organisations and sectors, this will be an opportunity to get a full debrief on the facts and solutions available.”
In addition to invasive species, Ground Control’s new suite of solutions for the housing and property sectors will include grounds maintenance, winter maintenance, pest control and auditing, roofing, fencing, vegetation management, arboriculture solutions and forestry services. The new compendium of services has been designed to ensure that housing and property professionals receive everything they need to complete their external grounds maintenance requirements.
Andrew continues: “We understand that property professionals require a range of grounds maintenance services to complete their daily tasks. Following requests from our customers, what we are now providing are tailored packages to suit every need. In addition, for every interested visitor to our stand, we will offer free attendance to either an invasive species workshop, or one of our biodiversity workshops.”
Over the last 12 months, the multi-award winning Ground Control, as well as receiving the UK industry’s top accolade The Queen’s Award for Innovation, has achieved the Gold Medal for the sixth consecutive year in the annual RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016, which was presented on 21st June. This is in addition to the accolades of the Essex Business of the Year and Best Growing Business, and the achievement of finalist in the UK Customer Experience Awards amongst some of the country’s biggest names.
