Ground Control champion growth of the UK’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure
Ground Control announce partnership with the world’s largest electric vehicle charging network, ChargePoint, to drive alternative energy and help businesses attract and retain staff and customers
Ground Control is heavily invested in caring for the environment, and its recent partnership with ChargePoint is the latest offering promoting innovative methods to build a more sustainable future. Ground Control’s new service ‘GC-ChargePoint’; supplying and installing EV charging solutions, supports and encourages the use of electric vehicles as an alternative energy source to fossil fuels, championing the growth of the UK’s EV charging network.
Vehicle manufacturers are expanding and developing an ever-growing range of electric vehicles, with the market growing significantly as diesel cars are rapidly replaced with greener alternatives. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reported that while just 500 electric cars were registered per month back in 2014, this has now soared dramatically to an average of 5,000 registrations a month in 2018.
This changing market is supported by government initiatives including ‘The Road to Zero’, as well as financial incentives for businesses and homes through the Office for Low Emission Vehicles. By the end of September 2018 the total number of registered plug-in vehicles had reached more than 178,000 with market trends indicating this number will more than double by as early as 2020.
Ground Control wish to help businesses, from retail, local authorities, schools, offices, national brands, private clients, business fleets and more, to tap into this market, by utilising innovative, smart networked and hassle-free charging stations for home, workplace and businesses which offer an alternative fuelling system for the future. This certainly caters for the growing demand, as recent research has found that the UK currently has just over 18,000 public charging points, but will require more than six times this amount by 2022.
This reliable, smart networked, forward-thinking charging solution helps brands to establish themselves as ‘green leaders’; attracting and retaining visitors by offering a convenient way to charge their car and go about their daily business, while simultaneously being environmentally friendly.
Andy Gray, Business Development Manager at Ground Control who leads their electric vehicle charging service, comments:
“By working with ChargePoint™ we will help to increase access to electric vehicles charging stations in the UK and pave the way for a greener future, through increased use of sustainable alternatives to fossil fuelled vehicles. We hope to see a rapid uptake in businesses utilising this infrastructure that benefits both the driver and our environment.”
