Ground Control celebrates young talent scooping 2 places in industry ‘30 Under 30: The Next Generation’

The UK’s leading commercial landscaping and external maintenance company, Ground Control, is today celebrating the success of their young talent as two colleagues are selected as Pro Landscaper magazine’s ’30 Under 30: The Next Generation’.

The ’30 Under 30’ awards were launched by the magazine to celebrate the successes of young people within the horticulture and landscaping industries.

This year, two Ground Control employees have been awarded, celebrating fantastic career growth within Ground Control and giving recognition of their outstanding potential to succeed in the industry; Graduate Landscape Architect Adam Newson, and Head Gardener for the Tower of London Ryan Thompson.

Adam joined Ground Control in August 2015 as a Trainee Landscape Architect prior to beginning his Landscape & Garden Design degree. He approached the business a year earlier in order to gain experience within a design team, following his strong passion for technical design and landscape. Strongly committed to his degree and developing his career, Adam completed his studies achieving a 1st Class Honours, and now works full time with Ground Control as a Graduate Landscape Architect. He has some outstanding projects under his belt to date, including HS2 and Kew Gardens. Looking to the future, Adam is hoping to complete a Masters degree and join the Pathway to Chartership to further his skills within the industry.

Ryan has been working with Ground Control at the Tower of London for 10 years, beginning as a Grounds Maintenance Operative in his first ever horticulture role. Over the years, his hard work and dedication has seen him move up the ranks to Assistant Head Gardener, and on to Head Gardener; a huge personal achievement and career goal. A true leader, Ryan has taken on considerable responsibilities as his job and knowledge has developed, marking many improvements across the Tower gardens resulting in numerous awards and recognitions. Last year, Ryan and his team celebrated winning London in Bloom and British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) Awards for their excellent works.

Ground Control’s Managing Director, Marcus Watson commented;
“How great to celebrate our young talent in this way! Adam and Ryan are exceptional colleagues who put in every effort to succeed and provide what truly is a fantastic service to our customers. At Ground Control, we are delighted to support our people, championing their career development and success. To have two winners in this year’s ‘30 under 30’ is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to Adam and Ryan’s hard work and dedication to their work, studies and the industry. A huge well done to them both.”

All winners were invited to the awards ceremony and dinner as part of the FutureScape event at Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, Surrey on 20th November.
