Ground Control Awarded 2 Principal Awards at BALI National Landscape Awards

Ground Control Awarded 2 Principal Awards at BALI National Landscape Awards

On Friday 7th December at the 42nd BALI National Landscape Awards, Ground Control received two coveted Principal Awards for landscape construction works at both Elephant Park and Calverley Adventure Grounds.

The BALI National Landscape Awards are held annually at London’s Grosvenor House on Park Lane and are the largest landscape Awards scheme in Europe. They recognise excellence in landscape design, construction and maintenance, and in Affiliate customer service, achieved by Registered members of the British Association of Landscape Industries.

The Awards ceremony was hosted by popular BBC Breakfast anchor and sports journalist Dan Walker, who addressed the record-breaking audience of over 1000 BALI members and guests during the luncheon and joined Awards sponsors on stage to present the 29 Principal and Special Awards.

Ground Control achieved Principal Awards in both winning categories; Regeneration Scheme over £500k and Community and Schools Development, strongly representing great success, professionalism and client satisfaction.

2014 marked the beginning of the £2.3billion regeneration project of the Elephant and Castle area, of which Ground Control was enlisted to develop a new community park. The new Elephant Park is part of the largest new green space in Central London for seventy years, vastly supporting the sustainability goals of the wider regeneration project alongside greatly improving the quality of life of the surrounding community.

Ground Control’s second award, the winning entry in the Community and Schools Development category, was for the Calverley Adventure Grounds in Kent. This project was initiated by the commitment of the local community in a bid to improve a disused and dilapidated area of the historic Calverley Grounds. Volunteers were passionate about the project and raised money through local fundraising events and sourcing sponsorships from local businesses and trusts.

Ground Control’s Managing Director, Marcus Watson, commented;

We are delighted to have achieved Principal Awards for both our winning projects, Elephant Park and Calverley Adventure Grounds; showcasing the high quality we deliver to our customers each and every day. They are both excellently executed projects and it is true honour to achieve yet more recognition from BALI for our construction projects. Very well done to all.”
