Green Flag 2014
Ground Control is delighted to announce that our exceptional grounds maintenance work being carried out with Croydon Bereavement Services has been recognised with a Green Flag award.
Mitcham Road Cemetery has been open since 1897 and this is the third time it has been awarded a Green flag. The award represents the highest possible accolade in the horticultural industry.
Our partnership with Croydon Council began with the award of a contract to deliver grounds maintenance works in November 2012. With the ambition and strategy to tender at levels that meet the demands of local authority budget reductions, Croydon Council has been able to save valuable costs without compromising on the quality of works provided. Ground Control also maintains two other cemeteries within the Croydon Borough.
Alongside the delivery of an award winning service, Ground Control has been working in partnership with Serco to bring added value to the site by working with Community Payback attendees. This has enabled us to actively engage with the local community, personifying our motto of going the extra mile for our people.
Dave Osborne, Project Manager at Mitcham Road Cemetery, was delighted to receive the award;
“We are proud to be awarded Green flag status as it reinforces our commitment to delivering high quality horticultural practices despite operating in a climate of local authority austerity.”
Furthermore, four parks maintained by Ground Control within the London Borough of Redbridge have also obtained Green Flag awards, highlighting our excellent service delivery.
