Cycling to success for Driver CPC

Ground Control has been working in partnership with the London Borough of Redbridge in training our operatives to the new Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) standards.
The new Driver CPC qualification required 37 hours of intense training and allows our operatives to safely and professionally operate vehicles over the weight of 3.5 tonnes. This CPC Drivers card will be an essential requirement for anyone that aims to operate a vehicle of this weight from 8th September 2014.
With cyclists becoming more prevalent in the modern era, our operatives got on their bikes on the last day of training to get a feel for what it’s like. Andy Simpson, Winter Operations Manager, joined the team for the day and said it was an eye-opening experience;
“We are delighted to confirm that the whole team passed the training course! It aimed to improve and increase our awareness as a driver and the final day gave us a real insight into what life is like for a cyclist on the busy streets of London. The team definitely benefitted from it and we will be paying even more attention to cyclists with this experience.”
