Cemetery Approach Gardens officially opens to the public

Ground Control construction project; Cemetery Approach Gardens officially opens to the publicGround Control’s recent landscape construction project for Vale of Glamorgan, Barry, was officially opened last month, unveiling the new transformed space to the community.

Since 2015, Barry Town Council and Vale of Glamorgan Council have been working in partnership to improve the previously derelict site, enlisting Ground Control and architects TDA Landscape Designs to transform the site into an accessible open space for all to enjoy. The new development will act as a gateway to Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery which has Green Flag status, the mark of a top quality outdoor space. It is hope that the new Cemetery Approach Gardens will achieve a similar accolade in the future.

Working as principal contractor, Ground Control’s works included installation of a new road including drainage, paved laybys and ornate bollards, an avenue of trees with integrated cell planting system, large paved areas, stone benches, stone dust paths, fencing and all planting.

Construction Manager Mark Stokes attended the official opening, joining representatives from Barry Town Council and Vale of Glamorgan Council.
