Zero to Landfill
Ground Control is the first landscaping company to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management (CIWM), the professional body that sets standards and represents the waste industry.
Ground Control is registered as a WasteSmart Centre and licensed to deliver its WasteSmart training course. This Defra / ESA supported certificated course provides a concise introduction to waste as a resource and its correct management.
CIWM also provides advice and guidance that helps us save money and aid our regulatory compliance.
Anna Havard, Client Relationship Manager at CIWM, commented: “It’s great to see organisations like Ground Control showing a commitment to the effective management of wastes and resources through accredited CIWM training.”
Ground Control takes great care regarding pesticide usage. This includes the selection and evaluation by our in-house BASIS qualified expert. We check the manufacturer’s Product Safety Data Sheets and prepare detailed COSHH assessments in keeping with the HSE guidelines. We only buy small quantities at a time and store them correctly to prevent pollution. Our operatives are trained in accordance with such accreditations as NPTC PA1 PA6, and record details of each treatment. Pesticides are selected for their minimal environmental impact and pollution risk.
